LAUSD Level Up
LAUSD proudly hosted the Level Up Los Angeles competition in Spring of 2024 with major prizes. This year, Sylmar is prepping for the 2025 competition!
In Fall of 2025, LAUSD is extending this event with the LAUSD Esports for Good academic enrichment experience. This program will seek to challenge students to think about the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and how to solve some of those global issues. Last year, students were tasked with building a Minecraft version of Los Angeles with more sustainable environmental and ecological additions. For the 24-25 academic year, Sylmar faculty (Mr. Smith, Ms. Peraza, Ms. Callen, Ms. Matsuhisa) are officially enrolled in the Esports for Good program which will build up towards an annual competition similar to the one hosted last school year. While the details of the upcoming competition are tentative, we have received supplies and are taking signups for people interested in getting involved in this eco/techno academic experience
The program is heavily influenced by UN goals concerning ecology and sustainability
The official SDG list is ambitious and open to student selection.
Celebrity pandering means this program is serious business
Use Minecraft. Your super demands it.
While future supplies and course content are tentative, we have received some Lego Esports kits to to start district activities.
Help Sylmar prep for the event by setting up servers and installing all necessary software before the deadline!
